Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit received his French counterpart Gérald Darmanin in Rabat on Monday. The two ministers met and reviewed issues of common interest and examined ways of further strengthening cooperation in line with the vision of both King Mohammed VI and President Emmanuel Macron for the future of the relationship.

Laftit and Darmanin welcomed «the solid foundation represented by security and migration components in the deep and multidimensional bilateral relationship», according to a press release from the Ministry of the Interior.

In a statement to the press, the French minister praised security cooperation with the Kingdom. «Without our Moroccan friends and the excellence of the Moroccan judicial police, France would be in greater danger than it is», he said. Darmanin added, «without Moroccan intelligence services, France would be more affected».

He further emphasized Morocco's role in securing the upcoming Paris Olympic Games this summer.
