As part of the ongoing efforts to confront the dangers of violent extremism and counter terrorist threats to the security of the Kingdom and its citizens, the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), under the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), on Tuesday morning dismantled a terrorist cell affiliated to the «Daesh» organization, whose members were active in the cities of Tiznit and Sidi Slimane.

This large-scale security operation, carried out by elements of the Special Forces of the Rapid Intervention Brigade, led to the arrest of 4 extremists, aged between 22 and 44, according to a BCIJ statement.

Searches carried out at the homes of the suspects led to the seizure of paramilitary equipment, including a tactical vest, a helmet, a sight and a balaclava, in addition to extremist manuscripts and a number of electronic media, which will be subjected to the necessary digital expertise, the same source added.

Initial investigations have revealed that the members of this terrorist cell have been involved in suspicious operations to mobilize the financial resources and logistical support necessary to carry out terrorist projects in the Kingdom with the aim of undermining public order.
