Morocco has been named «Africa's Best Golf Tourism Destination of the Year» at the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) European Convention currently taking place in Malaga, according to a press release issued by the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) on Tuesday.
The recognition was announced on the sidelines of the 2024 IAGTO edition. 660 golf tour operators voted based on Q1 2024 performance and customer satisfaction.
«This recognition rewards the efforts of the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation (FRMG) and the ONMT in promoting sustainable golf, enhancing the travel experience, and promoting golf tourism», the press release reads.
Last November, the ONMT partnered with Netflix to promote golf in Morocco. This partnership led to the creation of the «Morocco, Land of Light» brand within the international golf segment, benefiting from Netflix's global reach.
For the record, the IAGTO European Convention is a major event in the global golf tourism industry, bringing together over 750 delegates from Europe and other parts of the world for two days of networking and business opportunities.
This year's edition was attended by a large Moroccan delegation of private operators involved in golf, golf resorts, hospitality, and representing the Kingdom's various golf clusters.
