Germany hosts conference on Moroccan women's migration

A conference on migration and integration strategies for first-generation Moroccan women in Marburg, Germany, was held on Tuesday, May 28th, by the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at Philipps University.

The conference, led by Nadia Yakin, a researcher specializing in women's issues and migration in Germany, was part of a series organized by the (Arab Academic Circle).

Yakin focused on the various aspects of this migration, highlighting pre-migration factors such as social conditions, family environment, primary and secondary socialization, as well as the role of families in the migration decision for their daughters.

The specialist emphasized the (memory of place) in the process of adaptation to the host society. Integration strategies were also discussed, with a focus on parallel communities, migrant norms, food culture, language, religion, and work.

Concluding the conference, Nadia Yakin stressed the importance of raising awareness of migration issues among German and Moroccan students, as well as improving scientific exchange with the global population to better understand these issues.
