The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that the draw for the 2025 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, to be hosted by Morocco, will take place in Johannesburg on July 4.
In a statement published on its official website, CAF highlighted that 48 countries, including the four winners of the preliminary round (Chad, Eswatini, Liberia, and South Sudan), will be divided into 12 groups of four teams each to compete in the finals.
Last year's winners Côte d'Ivoire, along with Angola, Algeria, Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eswatini, and Ethiopia, will take part in the draw.
Other participating nations include Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Qualifiers are scheduled to begin in September 2024 to determine the 23 countries that will join Morocco, which has already qualified as the host country, with the finals promising exciting matches at Africa's biggest football event.
The draw will be attended by football legends, representatives of the participating teams, members of the AFCON Morocco 2025 Local Organizing Committee, and other notable figures.
