A Palestinian academic delegation visited Rabat's Mohammed V University on Monday to discuss prospects for cooperation in managing the gradual return to formal education in Palestine.
Palestinian Minister of Al Quds Affairs, Ashraf Al Aawar, delivered a speech, highlighting the importance of the visit for informing Morocco about the current state and challenges faced by Palestinian universities.
President of Al Quds University, Imad Abu Kishk, emphasized the crucial role of academic cooperation, especially for universities in the Holy City. He acknowledged Morocco's leading role in supporting Palestinian students through scholarships, both within the territories and in Morocco itself. He also mentioned the recently launched innovation and research scholarships for Al-Quds University.
Interim president of Mohammed V University, Farid El Bacha, reaffirmed the university's commitment to supporting Palestinians. He emphasized providing aid across all Palestinian territories, including the Gaza Strip. El Bacha called for the annual Morocco-Palestine forum to become a permanent framework for cooperation and partnership.
El Bacha also commended Al-Quds-Abu Dis University's contribution to empowering the Palestinian elite in defending their rights.
Those attending the meeting included Palestinian ambassador to Rabat, Jamal Choubki, Bayt Mal Al Qods Acharif Agency director Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, Al-Azhar University in Gaza chairman Khalil Abou Foul, president Omar Milad, and a number of academic figures from Al-Quds and Gaza, alongside deans from Mohammed V University's various institutions.
