The African Development Bank (AfDB) launched the new «RASME» digital solution on Monday, which collects accurate and reliable data in real-time to monitor the progress of projects in digital formats.
The RASME (Appraisal Supervision Monitoring and Evaluation), soon to be extended to all other African countries, utilizes several digital technologies to further improve project monitoring and evaluation processes, according to a press release from the AfDB.
Speaking on the occasion, AfDB’s Country Office Manager for Morocco, Achraf Tarsim, said that with RASME, collecting data on projects is faster, more efficient, and more cost-effective, allowing for better conception and deployment of the Bank’s future operations.
Abdelkrim Achir, Deputy Director of the Treasury and External Finance, representing the Ministry of the Economy and Finance, stressed that «Morocco is an emerging country aspiring to new levels of growth with an accelerating pace of development».
«This solution will contribute to this development by providing reliable data to ensure more efficient project management, making decision-making easier to serve development priorities», he added.
Using mobile devices (smartphones) and aerial or satellite imagery, the RASME IT solution collects precise, reliable data in real time to monitor project progress in digital formats (data, photos, videos, maps, etc.) directly from the field.
This continental initiative illustrates the digital transition undertaken by the AfDB to transform its operational processes and enhances the partnership between project management public units and the Bank’s sectoral experts.
