More than 1,500 students have signed a petition against last week's visit to Israel by students from Al Akhawayn University (AUI).

«Some students from AUI are participating in an ‘activism’ event in Tel Aviv, Israel (PALESTINE). They are proudly taking a stance which goes against all morals and values that we are taught here at AUI», the petition reads.

«Those students should be held accountable for tarnishing the reputation of, not only AUIers, but of all Moroccans as well. It is time to speak up and for them to be help accountable».

«As a community, we are not willing to let this inappropriate behavior slide!»

Last week, 23 young Moroccans visited Israel, met with Israeli officials, and even expressed their support for the Hebrew state in its war against Hamas, which sparked outrage on social media.

It is noteworthy that various Moroccan cities are witnessing almost daily demonstrations to denounce the Israeli aggression against Gaza and express support for the Palestinian people.
