The Disciplinary Committee of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has decided to appoint an integrity expert to assist in the investigation of possible violations of the organization's regulations during the events of July 24 at the Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium in Saint-Étienne (France). The incidents in question occurred during the match between Morocco and Argentina, as part of the first day of Group B at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Indeed, the match was interrupted after Moroccan supporters entered the pitch in the fifteenth minute of additional time during which Cristian Medina scored Argentina's second goal. After a suspension and following a VAR review, the Albiceleste's equalizing shot was rejected due to an offside. Both teams thus remained with a score of 2 to 1 in favor of Morocco

In its announcement, FIFA stated that its decision was made under Article 36 of the organization's Code of Discipline. It follows a complaint from the Argentine Football Association (AFA) regarding the pitch invasion by supporters, as well as the throwing of bottles and fireworks that disrupted the end of the match.

This behavior also caused dismay on the Moroccan side. Following the match, captain Achraf Hakimi lamented «the attitude of certain supporters» which «tarnished the image of our loyal fans».
