Some 18 young girls successfully completed the adventure of climbing Mount Toubkal in the province of Al Haouz, during the «Toubkal Adventure Girls» socio-sportive event held from July 26 to 28, 2024.

These 18 Moroccan participants were selected from among 100 young girls aged between 14 and 22, beneficiaries of the «Empower Girls» project aimed at empowering girls through various activities.

Speaking to MAP, Bouchra Baibanou, president of the Delta Evasion association, the Moroccan mountaineer said that «Toubkal Adventure Girls» aims to help young girls overcome the obstacles standing in their way, become more self-reliant and believe in their abilities.

Baibanou, famous for her worldwide exploits as a mountaineer, emphasized the symbolic adventure of climbing Mount Toubkal for these young girls.

«This climb aims to show these young girls that nothing is impossible in life, and that with willpower and perseverance, they will be able to achieve their dreams and goals in life», she explained.

In a similar statement, Farah Ait Ahmad, a young participant from the rural commune of Izaren (Al Haouz province), noted that this was the first time she had taken part in this adventure, even though she lives in a commune close to Mount Toubkal.

This young participant, who represents the «Education For All» association, linked by a partnership with the Delta Evasion association, emphasized that this adventure was beneficial for the young girls, particularly in terms of patience, perseverance and surpassing oneself.

Launched in October 2023, in partnership with the association La Guilde, the French Development Agency (AFD) and the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, the «Empower Girls» Project has benefited some 100 girls aged between 14 and 22, from several regions of Morocco.

Since its launch, these girls have benefited from skill-building workshops in leadership, self-confidence and team spirit.

Beneficiaries have also received practical training in various areas, including CV writing, interview preparation and job search strategies.

Sport features prominently in the project, with varied training sessions including soccer tournaments, hiking, and climbing sessions.

Founded in 2009, the Delta Evasion association is affiliated to the Royal Moroccan Ski and Mountain Sports Federation. It has been organizing boots camp girls since 2018, which have benefited more than 200 young girls aged between 13 and 18.
