Spain's Director General of Civil Protection and Emergencies, Virginia Barcones, announced that the current Operation Strait Crossing (OPE) is on track to be the largest in its 35-year history, based on passenger and vehicle numbers. During a press conference at the Ceuta Government Delegation on Saturday, Barcones assessed the operation's progress.

The past weekend was considered a peak period as many Moroccan families living in Europe traveled to and from their home country for summer vacations. As of Saturday, OPE figures included 1,357,899 passengers, 337,999 vehicles, and 4,545 ship rotations. Morocco's Operation Marhaba complements these efforts.

Compared to the previous year, these numbers represent increases of 4.9%, 6.9%, and 8.4%, respectively, according to the Spanish news agency EFE.
