Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb, convened a meeting on Friday with the scientific committee to review developments in the epidemiological situation of Mpox at both national and international levels.

This meeting is part of the Kingdom's proactive measures and ongoing efforts to monitor and assess the epidemiological landscape, according to a press release from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.

During the meeting, the effectiveness of the Kingdom's epidemiological vigilance and surveillance system was scrutinized. The ministry highlighted that this system has proven successful in the early detection of imported cases and facilitates immediate and effective intervention.

Ait Taleb emphasized the importance of maintaining efforts to enhance this system, aligning with recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO).

The meeting also reviewed the treatment protocol approved for combating Mpox, previously known as monkeypox, stressing the need for strict adherence to prescribed treatments and ensuring the availability of necessary medical supplies to treat potential cases in accordance with the highest health safety standards.

The scientific committee commended the success of the current treatment protocol in Morocco, which, according to the ministry, has effectively treated identified cases without any serious health complications.

The meeting also underscored the importance of intensifying efforts to raise awareness among all citizens, providing the preventive medical advice needed to curb the infection's spread.

In this context, the Minister called for strengthening communication channels with all stakeholders in the health sector to ensure continued effective coordination and immediate response to any developments in the epidemiological situation.

Ait Taleb reaffirmed his department's commitment to ongoing collaboration with various national and international bodies and partners to safeguard public health and combat the spread of this epidemic.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection reiterates its call to all citizens to act responsibly and remain vigilant, follow approved health guidelines, and stay informed by consulting official sources.
