On the occasion of the anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People, King Mohammed VI granted pardons to 685 individuals, some in detention and others at liberty, who had been sentenced by various courts in the kingdom, according to a press release from the Ministry of Justice.

Additionally, the King granted pardons to 4,831 people convicted, prosecuted, or wanted in cases related to cannabis cultivation, who met the necessary conditions to benefit from the pardon.

Among the detainees benefiting from the Royal Pardon, the breakdown is as follows:

Clemency on the remainder of the prison sentence for 15 prisoners.

Reduction of the prison sentence for 529 inmates.

Commutation of life sentences to fixed-term sentences for 4 prisoners.

For those at liberty, 137 people were granted a royal pardon, detailed as follows:

Pardon on the prison sentence or its remainder for 26 people.

Clemency on the prison sentence while maintaining the fine for 8 people.

Pardon of fines for 98 people.

Pardon of both the prison sentence and fine for 4 people.

Pardon on the fine and the remainder of the prison sentence for 1 person.

In addition to its humanitarian aspects, the royal pardon for the 4,831 individuals convicted, prosecuted, or wanted in cases related to cannabis cultivation aims to facilitate their integration into the new strategy committed by the concerned provinces, following the creation of the National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis-Related Activities.
