The 12th edition of the Voix de Femmes festival opened on Thursday evening at the Spanish Theater in Tetouan. The event was attended by the Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family, Aawatif Hayar.

Several individuals were honored at the opening ceremony, including the President of the National Human Rights Council, the President of the Regional Tourism Council of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, journalist Zoubaida Fathi, and the President of the Sanade Association. Additionally, the Vegetaland and Aghssane cooperatives were recognized.

The festival, which was paused due to the pandemic, returned this year with a musical show featuring Moroccan artist Zainab Afailal and the Spanish group Maria Olé Flamenco.

Karima Benyaich, President of the Voix de Femmes association, explained that this edition, taking place from August 22 to 24, celebrates women's artistic creativity under the theme «Women, Essential Partners for Lasting Change». The festival aims to highlight talented female artists and promote solidarity, openness, and tolerance.

In addition to its artistic focus, the festival also emphasizes social action. This year's edition includes a «Health for All» caravan for vulnerable individuals, solidarity initiatives for women in Tetouan's penitentiary center, and a donation to the residents of the Sidi Frej Center.

The festival continues on Friday with performances by Hajar Fezzaka, Hind Ziadi, and the Spanish group Gipsy Queens Generation. The closing night on Saturday will feature Tetouan artist Youssra Derdabi, Moroccan-Iraqi singer Shatha Hassoun, and Lebanese singer Carole Samaha.
