Rachid Yazami honored for groundbreaking lithium battery invention at International Forum

Moroccan scientist and inventor Rachid Yazami was honored at the International Government Communication Forum, currently being held in Sharjah, in recognition of his groundbreaking scientific achievements, particularly his invention of the lithium battery.

Speaking to MAP, Yazami expressed his pride, noting that this recognition is not only a personal achievement but also a source of pride for Morocco. «It acknowledges my invention of the lithium battery, which I accomplished at the age of 26», he said.

Yazami also highlighted Morocco's plans to build a large factory for manufacturing lithium batteries for electric vehicles (Gigafactory), signaling a promising future for the Kingdom in the

Yazami urged a greater focus on scientific research and the training of future generations of technicians, researchers, and engineers in renewable energy technologies. He emphasized that advancements in battery manufacturing would have a significant positive impact on the environment by drastically reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Rachid Yazami is renowned for inventing the «graphite anode» which revolutionized rechargeable lithium batteries. His work enables electronic devices and electric cars to charge in record time. He holds over 200 patents and has published more than 250 scientific papers.

The International Government Communication Forum, which features around 250 speakers, is addressing the major opportunities and challenges governments and societies face in the 21st century. Topics include information warfare that transcends borders, a talent-driven economy, the digital future, and the role of innovative communication in helping governments achieve public development goals.

Key discussions at the forum will focus on the role of government communication in economic resilience, strategies for developing the tourism economy, and how effective communication can attract talent—viewed as a nation's true wealth. The future of government communication in a virtual, digital lifestyle will also be explored.

The forum highlights the importance of innovative communication as governments adopt more flexible models to promote innovation and create future opportunities.
