The Ministry of the Interior has reported that a total of 45,015 attempts at irregular migration have been thwarted since the beginning of 2024, thanks to the resilience of border and coastal surveillance systems.

According to data from the department, 11,323 attempts were foiled in the M'diq prefecture and 3,325 in the province of Nador during the month of August, involving various nationalities.

Similarly, the security services dismantled 177 migrant smuggling networks, while 10,589 migrants were rescued at sea and provided with assistance, medical support, accommodation, and guidance as part of the humanized management of borders.

In addition, the department reports growing migratory movements, a consequence of the instability prevailing in the Sahel region and the permeability of borders.

In this respect, the same source emphasized the need for a responsible commitment and solidarity with all partners, particularly West African countries and Spain, as a lever to address current challenges.
