Between June 5 and September 5, 2024, 45,690 Moroccans living abroad (MREs) passed through the port of Al Hoceïma as part of this year's Marhaba operation. According to Port Officer Rihab Boulemane, the passengers were divided into 21,039 arriving in Morocco and 24,651 departing abroad. Additionally, a total of 11,161 vehicles were registered, including 5,440 inbound and 5,721 outbound.
Boulemane highlighted the smooth operation, noting that the port worked to welcome MREs in the best possible conditions, thanks to advanced equipment and the collective efforts of various stakeholders. These included the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, the Royal Gendarmerie, National Security, Customs, port and local authorities, and Marsa Maroc.
The National Ports Agency (ANP) and other relevant parties also strengthened port security procedures, increased the number of security and customs teams, and expedited the passport and baggage inspection process.
The port also mobilized teams to assist travelers, answer their questions, and ensure the smooth running of the Marhaba operation by reinforcing essential equipment.
