The Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fishing, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Mohammed Sadiki, visited Ouarzazate province to assess the impact of recent torrential rainfall on agriculture and infrastructure. He announced an Emergency Action Program to mitigate the damage.

Accompanied by local officials, the Minister visited the Oum Rman site to assess the damage caused by flooding, which affected hydraulic infrastructure and fruit trees.

Based on a preliminary assessment, the Minister announced the allocation of 40 million dirhams for urgent repairs. The emergency plan aims to rehabilitate infrastructure, relaunch agricultural activities, and support the affected population.

The Minister noted that the affected provinces would benefit from substantial budgets under the Generation Green strategy, focusing on agricultural sectors and infrastructure.

While the floods caused damage to crops and infrastructure, they also had a positive impact on the region's water table and dam reservoirs. The Ministry is providing guidance, support, and input supplies to small-scale farmers to ensure a successful agricultural season.

The recent rainfall is expected to have a beneficial impact on water resources, satisfying drinking water requirements for the next four years and revitalizing oases, socio-economic development, and job creation.

The Ministry of Agriculture has confirmed that its services remain fully mobilized to assess the damage and implement emergency measures.
