Portugal has reaffirmed the «fundamental» strategic partnership between the European Union and Morocco, reiterating its commitment to working with European partners and institutions to deepen the relationship in all areas.
In a statement following the European Court of Justice's (CJEU) decision on the EU-Morocco fisheries and agriculture agreements, the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of the EU-Morocco partnership and Portugal's intention to strengthen it.
Portugal and Morocco share a long-standing relationship characterized by respect, friendship, and strong momentum at the political, diplomatic, and economic levels. Strengthening bilateral and European relations with Morocco this year, as the two countries celebrate the 250th anniversary of their peace treaty, is a strategic priority for Portugal.
