Morocco : IMF forecasts 2.8% growth this year, 3.6% in 2025

Morocco is expected to register growth of 2.8% this year and 3.6% in 2025, according to projections by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) published Tuesday.

In an update of its «World Economic Outlook», the financial institution forecasts inflation of 1.7% in 2024 and 2.3% the following year. Unemployment is projected to rise to 13.4% in 2024, before dropping to 12.6% in 2025, according to the forecasts released during the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington.

The IMF also expects Morocco's current account balance to fall to -2.0% in 2024 and -2.3% in 2025. The institution projects that Morocco's economy will grow by around 3.4% by 2029, with inflation slowing to 2.0% over the same period.

In the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, growth is expected to reach 2.1% in 2024 before jumping to 4.0% in 2025, with inflation rates between 14.8% in 2024 and 11.6% in 2025, according to the IMF's projections.
