Minister of Justice Abdellatif Ouahbi and Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif Al Saud signed three agreements in Riyadh on Wednesday to enhance criminal cooperation between the two countries. This move reflects the depth of historical relations and the strong partnership between the two kingdoms.
The agreements cover mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, the transfer of convicted persons, and extradition. They aim to enhance the effectiveness of judicial and security cooperation, particularly in investigation, prosecution, and the fight against crime.
The two sides also discussed facilitating the transfer of convicts between the two countries as a humanitarian gesture to bring inmates closer to their families and support their rehabilitation.
During the meeting, they addressed issues of common interest, including combating organized crime and strengthening security and judicial cooperation while respecting each other's sovereignty and public order.
Minister Ouahbi emphasized that these agreements complement the existing program of legal and judicial cooperation and demonstrate the strong partnership between Morocco and Saudi Arabia. He highlighted their importance in consolidating justice and combating cross-border crime.
The agreements are expected to strengthen Morocco's position in the fight against transnational crime and reinforce judicial and security cooperation with Saudi Arabia.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from both sides, including Moroccan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mustapha Mansouri and Saudi officials.
