The logistical teams dispatched by Morocco to support relief efforts in the areas affected by the recent floods in south-eastern Spain «have made a huge contribution» to restoring damaged infrastructure, said Alfredo Ribelles Villalba, Director of Valencia Hospital.
Praising the competence, professionalism and expertise of the Moroccan teams, Ribelles described their action as «indispensable» in speeding up the restoration of the damaged infrastructure.
This Moroccan assistance demonstrates a strong commitment to international solidarity. The Spanish official added this in a statement to MAP at the reception in Valencia on Saturday evening of a second Moroccan convoy comprising 13 trucks, including 12 pump cars and a truck for repairs and tools.

To enable the Moroccan teams to carry out their mission under optimum conditions, specially equipped facilities have been made available to them, assured the director of Valencia Hospital, who was accompanied by the director general of the Spanish Civil Protection, Virginia Barcones, the Moroccan consul general in Valencia, Said Drissi El Bouzaidi, and other local officials.
The new deployment also includes 34 operators with state-of-the-art technical equipment to mark out the terrain for rescue workers and facilitate access to disaster areas.
Following the floods which devastated several regions of Spain, King Mohammed VI had given instructions to the Minister of the Interior to speak by telephone with his Spanish counterpart and inform him of Morocco’s full readiness to dispatch rescue teams and provide all necessary assistance to Spain in dealing with this natural disaster.
A first exceptional Moroccan convoy, mobilizing 24 vacuum pump trucks and 70 operators, arrived in Spain on Wednesday to support relief efforts and help the Valencia region, severely affected by storm Dana.
