The 7th edition of the Aït Ouaouzguit Carpet Festival concluded on Sunday in Taznakht, in the province of Ouarzazate. Organized by the Chamber of Crafts of Drâa-Tafilalet, in partnership with several local institutions, this event, held from November 20 to 24, celebrated the carpet as a cultural heritage and a lever for economic and social development.
With more than 60,000 visitors and 150 exhibitors, 80% of whom were weavers, the festival enhanced the reputation of the Aït Ouaouzguit carpet, a jewel of Moroccan craftsmanship. The exhibition also brought together cooperatives from all over Morocco, boosting the local economy with an increase in traders' turnover of over 100%.
In addition to the stands, the event offered seven training sessions, educational visits, and a rich artistic program that attracted 20,000 spectators. Artists such as Fatima Tabaamrant and local groups enlivened evenings with a mix of Amazigh poetry, music, and Ahwach dances.
