Moroccan environmentalist Saad Abid received the prestigious «Social Impact Award» at the Global Entrepreneurship Festival (GEF), held from November 22-24 in Akure, Nigeria. The award recognizes his initiatives in favor of the environment, youth, and social innovation.

The GEF, which attracted over 5,000 on-site participants and 20 million online viewers, was held under the theme «Beyond Borders: Poverty Eradication through Entrepreneurship». The ceremony was attended by Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Saad Abid, known for his commitment to the Bahri association, has distinguished himself through projects such as cleaning up Moroccan beaches, raising young people's awareness of environmental protection, and recycling waste. In 2016, he mobilized 5,400 volunteers to organize the biggest beach clean-up in Morocco. In 2024, his «Chbyka» project, focused on marine conservation, also won a prize at the Ocean Love Innovation Awards in The Hague.

A former Moroccan surfing champion, Saad Abid has turned his passion for the sport into a career dedicated to social and environmental change. He spoke movingly upon receiving the award: «This honor belongs to all those who believe in the power of commitment and positive change».
