In a historic milestone for Moroccan tourism, the country welcomed 15.9 million tourists during the first eleven months of 2024, marking a 20% increase, or 2.6 million additional visitors, compared to the same period in 2023, according to the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and the Social and Solidarity Economy.
This growth was fueled by a significant rise in foreign tourists, which increased by 23%, or 1.5 million additional visitors, alongside a 17% surge in Moroccans Residing Abroad (MRE), contributing 1.1 million more arrivals, the Ministry said in a press release. In November alone, the Kingdom welcomed nearly 1.3 million tourists, reflecting exceptional growth of 31%, the same source reported.
Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and the Social and Solidarity Economy, was quoted in the press release as saying: «We are experiencing an unprecedented phase in the dynamic history of Moroccan tourism».
«These extraordinary figures are a testament to the effectiveness of our strategy and represent a major step toward our goal of positioning Morocco among the world's top 15 tourist destinations», she added.
