The National Coordination of Families of Moroccans Stranded and Detained in Syria and Iraq has made an emotional plea to King Mohammed VI and other Moroccan officials to «show compassion for the dire situation of Moroccans stranded in Syria, particularly women, children, and detainees. These are Moroccan citizens, part of this beloved nation, enduring inhumane conditions after being misled».
In a statement, the coordination revealed that it had reached out to the ministries of foreign affairs, interior, and justice, as well as the prime minister's office, «urging them to take immediate action to save their loved ones».
The group urged the government to treat this issue as «a top priority», warning that «ignoring or delaying action only worsens their suffering and places a heavy moral responsibility on all of us».
They called for swift intervention «to bring these citizens back home, where they can live in safety and dignity. We also ask for hope to be extended to their families, who endure constant worry and anxiety over the fate of their loved ones».
