King Mohammed VI welcomed Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani at the Royal Palace in Casablanca today. The «This meeting is part of the strong relations of trust and cooperation linking the two countries and the sincere fraternal ties uniting the two brotherly peoples», reads a Royal Cabinet communique.
During their discussions, the two leaders expressed satisfaction with the positive development of the Moroccan-Mauritanian partnership across various sectors. They emphasized their commitment to advancing strategic projects aimed at enhancing connectivity between the two nations.
In particular, they discussed cooperation within the framework of royal initiatives in Africa, including the African-Atlantic gas pipeline and efforts to improve access for Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean. These initiatives underscore the countries' shared vision for regional integration and development.
Upon his arrival at the Royal Palace, President El Ghazouani was greeted with honors by a detachment of the Royal Guard. He then participated in the traditional ceremony of offering milk and dates, marking the warm and ceremonial nature of the visit.
