Morocco is considering resuming its air connections with Libya, which were suspended in 2015. This announcement was made by the Libyan Transport Minister, Mohamed Al-Shahoubi, from the national unity government, according to media sources yesterday.

This topic was discussed in Rabat during talks on the sidelines of an Arab Civil Aviation Organization meeting between Al-Shahoubi and his Moroccan counterpart, Abdessamad Kayouh. The resumption will be accompanied by the opening of a new maritime route between the two countries in 2025, according to the same source.

The suspension of direct flights between Libya and Morocco dates back to February 2015, a decision made by Moroccan authorities due to the deteriorating security situation in Libyan territory.

Relations between Morocco and the national unity government, led by Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dabaiba, are rather cold. This is evidenced by the reaction of Foreign Minister Taher Al-Baour to the meeting held on December 18 and 19 in Morocco between representatives of the internationally recognized Tobruk Parliament and the Libyan High Council of State.
