In a tragic incident in the Chtouka Ait Baha province's Ouad Essafa, three children, including two brothers, and their mother drowned in a watering trough used for irrigation on a local farming estate. The family entered the property without the owner's knowledge.
The heartbreaking event unfolded on Saturday when four children ventured onto the farm, which houses the water basin. The tragedy began when the first child fell into the water. In a desperate attempt to rescue him, the second child also drowned. The third child lost his life while trying to assist them. The fourth child, witnessing the unfolding disaster, ran to alert the mother. Upon arriving at the scene, the mother attempted to save her children but tragically drowned due to the depth of the water.
In the aftermath of the incident, local authorities, the Royal Gendarmerie, and Civil Protection units promptly arrived at the scene. An investigation has been launched under the supervision of the public prosecution. The bodies of the victims have been transported to the mortuary to proceed with the necessary legal formalities.
