Morocco has ended 2024 with remarkable momentum, reporting an impressive influx of 17.4 million tourists by the end of December. This achievement puts the nation ahead of its strategic tourism roadmap, initially set for 2026.
The latest figures indicate a 20% surge compared to 2023, translating to nearly 3 million additional visitors. This upward trend is evident among both Foreign Tourists (TES), who reached 8.8 million visitors, marking a 23% increase, and Moroccans Residing Abroad (MRE), who accounted for 8.6 million arrivals, a rise of 17%. The near-equal distribution between TES at 51% and MRE at 49% underscores Morocco's enduring appeal to diverse traveler segments.
These results, which are 35% higher than the numbers recorded in 2019, affirm the effectiveness of the tourism roadmap and solidify Morocco's status as a premier tourist destination and the leading destination in Africa.
«This exceptional performance is the result of targeted investment by our government in this sector, which is vital to our country's economy, as well as the constant mobilization of professionals in the sector. Bravo to all the public and private players who have enabled Moroccan tourism to shine», Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy, stated.
