The African Academy of Health Sciences (AAHS) in Dakhla stands as a robust scientific platform dedicated to advancing the continent's health sovereignty, a «commendable initiative» that arrives at an opportune moment, according to Albert Kofi Owusu, General Manager of the Ghana News Agency (GNA).
In a conversation with MAP during the 8th General Assembly of the Atlantic Federation of African Press Agencies (FAAPA), held Wednesday and Thursday in Salé, Owusu emphasized that the AAHS, inaugurated last November in Dakhla, is poised to empower African nations to address health challenges on a continental scale.
He lauded Morocco's efforts and various solidarity-driven initiatives, aimed at bolstering Africa's health sovereignty. «This is what is expected of a leading country like Morocco, given the technological advances achieved by the Kingdom in many fields», he remarked, highlighting how Morocco's leadership in healthcare serves as an inspiration for other African countries to leverage its experience and expertise.
The 8th General Assembly of FAAPA convenes the CEOs of numerous African news agencies, along with media and healthcare experts and distinguished figures from diverse backgrounds. This gathering marks the 10th anniversary of FAAPA's establishment, providing a platform to reflect on the future roles of African news agencies in the 21st century, considering their unique diversities and specificities.
Under the theme «African news agencies, a lever for promoting the continent's health sovereignty», this assembly aims to explore strategies for enhancing and reinforcing African health sovereignty, preparing the continent to better withstand future challenges.
