A group of Moroccan hackers known as MoroccanGhosts infiltrated the website of the Polisario Front's press agency earlier this Tuesday. The hackers replaced the content on the SPS archives page with Morocco's national motto: «God, Homeland, King». They also left a clear message: «The Sahara is Moroccan and Morocco is a kingdom». Additionally, the page displayed the national flag and photos of King Mohammed VI.
Currently, the SPS archive link is down, with the hackers' content removed and a message from the administrators indicating ongoing maintenance. Other media outlets associated with the Polisario have not reported on this hacking incident. However, this is not an isolated event. In 2022, Moroccan hackers also targeted the website of the channel «RASD Radio», successfully taking it offline.
The 2022 attack coincided with the eighth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) in Tunisia, where the Polisario leader, Brahim Ghali, was received by Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed.
A year prior, Moroccan hackers targeted Iranian institutional sites. This attack followed Iran's advocacy for «the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination» during the ninth session of the UN Special Political and Decolonization Committee.
