This Wednesday in Fez, Zinco, a subsidiary of the Zinelec group, inaugurated its new smart electric meter production line in the presence of Industry and Trade Minister Ryad Mezzour.

Specializing in the manufacture of water and electricity meters, reinforced concrete poles for power lines, and public lighting solutions, Zinco has been shifting towards local industrial integration since 2011, after years of representing international brands.

The new production line, launched with a 12 million dirham investment and creating 71 new jobs, marks a significant technological advancement for the company. These smart meters enable precise consumption measurement, remote management, and integration into smart electrical grids, contributing to the energy transition and the modernization of national infrastructure.

During the inauguration, Ryad Mezzour described the project as a «revolution in energy management», aligning with Morocco’s national energy strategy under King Mohammed VI’s vision.

Equipped with integrated communication technology, the meters allow households to monitor real-time energy consumption, improve network efficiency for suppliers, and support the integration of renewable energy sources.

With an annual production capacity of up to 900,000 units, this factory represents a key economic opportunity for the Fez-Meknes region, reinforcing Morocco’s industrial sovereignty while also catering to African markets.
