During an official visit to Rabat, Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Murat Nurtleu, reaffirmed his country's support for Morocco's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and for the autonomy plan presented by the Kingdom in 2007.
In a joint communiqué signed with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, Kazakhstan hailed the autonomy plan as a serious and credible basis for a negotiated political solution to the Sahara issue.
This unequivocal support is particularly significant given Kazakhstan's key role in Central Asia. It reinforces Morocco's diplomatic achievements regarding its national cause, aligning with the directives of King Mohammed VI.
Kazakhstan thus joins the growing international momentum supporting the autonomy plan as the only viable solution to the regional dispute over the southern provinces.
Furthermore, in the joint press release, Murat Nurtleu reiterated his country's support for the efforts of the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy for the Sahara, within the framework of Security Council resolutions.
In this regard, the latest resolution, 2756, adopted on October 31, 2024, confirmed the serious and credible nature of the Autonomy Plan, consolidated the parameters of a lasting and compromise-based political solution, and enshrined the round table format as the sole framework for the UN political process.
