Massalia, a new ship to boost Morocco-Marseille connection

Moroccan travelers will soon have a new option for crossing the Mediterranean in optimal conditions. French shipping company La Méridionale, a subsidiary of the CMA CGM group since 2023, is set to launch Le Massalia, a modern vessel that will link Marseille to Tanger Med starting this June.

Named through a collaborative process involving the company’s employees, Le Massalia reflects La Méridionale’s deep Mediterranean roots and commitment to passenger experience. With 219 cabins, dining areas, a movie theater, and children’s play zones, the ferry promises a more comfortable journey for those traveling between France and Morocco.

Since its launch in 2020, the Marseille–Tanger Med route has become a convenient alternative for Moroccans traveling to France with their vehicles or goods. With the introduction of Le Massalia, La Méridionale is expanding its capacity and improving the travel experience to meet growing demand, especially during the summer season.
