This Saturday, March 29, several religious bodies and organizations are observing the lunar crescent to determine the end of Ramadan. Among the countries that prioritize moon sighting, Saudi Arabia has announced that Eid al-Fitr will fall on Sunday, March 30, 2025, as confirmed by the Royal Court.

The same date has been declared in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Yemen, Lebanon, Qatar, Palestine, and Iraq for Sunni Muslims, according to the Waqf Court.

Many Muslims Celebrate Eid on March 30

In Europe, Muslims in several countries will also celebrate Eid al-Fitr this Sunday.

In France, the Grand Mosque of Paris has confirmed this date, which will also be observed in Belgium, according to the Muslim Executive of Belgium (EMB). In a statement, the EMB extended its wishes for peace «to citizens of the Muslim faith and all other beliefs».

«We invite Muslims to share this festive moment with their families, neighbors, and friends of all beliefs, in a climate of peace and love. The EMB also stands in solidarity with all those celebrating Eid without being able to be surrounded by their loved ones», the organization stated.

In Spain, the Islamic Commission has also confirmed this date, as has the Union of Islamic Communities in Italy (UCII).

Meanwhile, some organizations rely on astronomical calculations, which have already led to the announcement of Eid al-Fitr on March 30 in Turkey, Germany, and North America.

Countries Announcing March 31

Despite using the same astronomical calculation method, the National Council of Imams in Australia has declared March 31 as the first day of Eid. In New Zealand, Sunday, March 30, will mark the 29th day of Ramadan.

In several Asian countries, including Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, and Pakistan, March 30 will also be the 29th day of Ramadan.

In Oman, authorities have confirmed March 31 as Eid al-Fitr, citing the absence of the lunar crescent on Saturday. As a result, the first day of Shawwal will be Monday, as will be the case in Egypt.

Indonesia has also announced March 31 as Eid, following the absence of the lunar crescent.

This date has been confirmed by the Grand Mufti of Jordan, as well as the Chief Judge of Sharia in Damascus, Syria.
