The Spanish Civil Guard has arrested 23 individuals belonging to a criminal network led by a drug dealer known as «El Tarta». The group was involved in smuggling large quantities of hashish from Morocco via the Guadalquivir River in Andalusia, using fast boats.

The operation, dubbed «Insula», led to the seizure of 452 kilograms of hashish, 22,406 liters of gasoline, and two stolen cars used to transport the drugs, according to Spanish media sources.

These arrests followed 20 search operations conducted in the Seville and Cádiz regions, during which authorities also confiscated three motorboats equipped with 300-horsepower engines, €54,840 in cash, and various electronic devices, including surveillance cameras and marine GPS systems.

The investigation began in April last year after security forces identified a criminal network stealing luxury cars and using them to transport drugs from Lebrija to areas near the Guadalquivir River.
