On Thursday, officers from the Casablanca Prefectural Judicial Police arrested a 38-year-old French national of Algerian origin who is the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the French judicial authorities. The warrant was issued to enforce a prison sentence following his conviction in a case involving serious assault and battery.
According to a security source, the suspect was apprehended in Casablanca. A check of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) database revealed that he was the subject of a Red Notice issued for the execution of a prison sentence handed down by the French judiciary in mid-2024, in a case involving the assault of several individuals with a bladed weapon.
The suspect has been placed in custody at the request of the public prosecutor, pending extradition proceedings.
