Marjane Group and Pathé have announced a strategic partnership to establish multiple cinema complexes across Morocco, pending the necessary approvals. This collaboration supports Marjane Group’s ambition to expand its leisure offerings by transforming its shopping centers into dynamic destinations that merge retail, culture, and entertainment.

The partnership leverages the complementary strengths of Marjane Group’s real estate expertise and Pathé’s cinematic know-how. The shared objective is to provide Moroccan audiences with a modern, immersive, and accessible cinema experience through a nationwide network of multiplexes featuring cutting-edge technology and digital services.

«This partnership marks a new step in our strategy to develop a high-value offering at the intersection of retail, leisure, and culture», said Ayoub Azami, CEO of Marjane Group. He also sees the initiative as a lever to support Morocco’s ambitions in the Cultural and Creative Industries sector.

For Jérôme Seydoux, President of Pathé, the collaboration builds on a longstanding bond between Morocco and cinema: «Many Pathé productions have been filmed in Morocco. Together, we will create cinemas that meet the highest international standards».

Pathé opened its first complex in Morocco in December 2023 at Californie Mall in Casablanca. The eight-screen multiplex—which includes an IMAX Laser and a 4DX theater—already reflects this vision with an immersive, digital experience focused on the artistic scene.

A key player in large-scale retail since 1990, Marjane Group operates more than 200 retail locations in 40 cities and attracts over 100 million visitors annually. Pathé, meanwhile, manages 128 cinemas across seven countries, with a strong focus on innovation and premium development.
