Soufiane El Bakkali sets World’s Best 3000m steeplechase time at Rabat Diamond League

Moroccan athlete Soufiane El Bakkali, a double Olympic and world champion, achieved the World’s Best Performance (WBP) of the year in the 3000m steeplechase during the Mohammed VI International Athletics Meeting, the fourth stage of the 2025 Diamond League, held on Sunday at the annex Olympic stadium of the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.

El Bakkali clocked a time of 8 minutes 00.70 seconds to secure victory and set the year’s WBP. He finished ahead of Germany’s Frederik Ruppert, who recorded a time of 8 minutes 01.49 seconds, and Kenyan Edmund Serem, who completed the race in 8 minutes 07.47 seconds.
