On the occasion of Eid Al-Adha for the year 1446 AH / 2025 AD, King Mohammed VI has granted a pardon to 1,511 individuals convicted by various Moroccan courts, according to a statement from the Ministry of Justice. The beneficiaries include both detainees and individuals at large.
Detainees (1,305 individuals):
- 72 inmates received a full pardon for their remaining prison terms.
- 1,229 had their prison terms reduced.
- 4 had their life sentences commuted to fixed prison terms.
Non-custodial individuals (206 individuals):
- 71 received a full pardon for their prison sentences or remaining terms.
- 6 had their prison terms pardoned but their fines maintained.
- 115 had their fines annulled.
- 12 had both their prison terms and fines annulled.
- 2 had both their remaining prison term and fines annulled.
Additionally, 15 individuals convicted in cases related to extremism and terrorism were granted pardons. These individuals were approved after formally expressing their adherence to national values and institutions, and after renouncing extremist ideologies. They include:
- 5 detainees granted a full pardon for the remainder of their prison terms and fines.
- 10 detainees received sentence reductions.
