On Sunday, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the final shortlists for the 2025 CAF Awards, with strong Moroccan representation across multiple categories.
In the Best Coach category, national team coach Walid Regragui and U20 coach Mohamed Ouahbi were both nominated, alongside Cape Verde’s Bubista. Morocco is also featured in the Best National Team category, with nominations for both the senior squad and the U20 team, which recently won the World Cup.
In the Best Club category, RS Berkane will compete against Egypt’s Pyramids FC and South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns. For Best African Player, the finalists are Morocco’s captain Achraf Hakimi, Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, and Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen. The Best Goalkeeper shortlist includes Moroccans Yassine Bounou and Munir El Kajoui, along with Mamelodi Sundowns’ Ronwen Williams.
Moroccan internationals Mohamed Chibi (Pyramids FC) and Oussama Lamlioui (RS Berkane) are also nominated for Best Player in African Competitions, alongside DR Congo’s Fiston Mayele. In the Best Young Player category, CAF shortlisted Moroccan talents Othman Masina Maamma and Abdellah Ouazane, who will compete with South Africa’s Thailon Smith.
In the women’s categories, Moroccans Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaâ Mssoudy made the final shortlist for Best Female Player, alongside Nigeria’s Rasheedat Ajibade. Goalkeeper Khadija Er-Rmichi is also a finalist for Best Female Goalkeeper, competing with Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie and South Africa’s Andile Dlamini.
