This year, the Nuits d'Orient festival in Dijon turns its focus to Chefchaouen, celebrating the city's rich architectural and natural heritage in a fervent bid for intercultural exchange.
Both Dijon and Chefchaouen, recognized as UNESCO World Heritage sites, offer a perfect backdrop for showcasing their cultural wealth and facilitating dialogue between their communities.
In line with this vision, the festival unveils the photographic exhibition «A Glimpse of Two Cities: Dijon and Chefchaouen», which creates a visual conversation between the unique architectural styles, landscapes, and symbols of each city.
«This effort aims to bridge cultural understanding for both the Moroccan community and the French public, providing them with insights into Morocco beyond the usual narratives», explains photographer Mohamed Chadli to MAP.
Christine Martin, Deputy Mayor of Dijon, emphasizes that the Nuits d'Orient is a platform for exchange and openness, fostering cultural discovery. «It represents a significant cultural event filled with debates, meetings, and interactions that have evolved and enriched over the festival's two-decade history», she stated in a press release.
Championing cultural dialogue, the 2025 edition of the Dijon festival features 145 cultural events, including exhibitions, concerts, conferences, theater productions, and film screenings, spread across 46 venues throughout the city.
Through visual arts, gastronomy, and theater, this 25th edition of the festival underscores the dynamic exchanges between the Mediterranean's two shores and highlights the pivotal role Morocco plays in these interactions.
