In preparation for the «African Lion 2026» exercise, a key planning meeting is being held from December 8 to 12, 2025, at the Southern Zone Headquarters in Agadir, bringing together representatives from several nations, including Morocco and the United States.

According to the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), the meeting will focus on interoperability, logistics, and the integration of participating forces. It will address multiple operational domains: air, land, maritime, and special operations.

Scheduled for April 20 to May 8, 2026, the African Lion 2026 exercise will take place across Agadir, Tan-Tan, Taroudant, Kenitra, and Ben Guerir. Its objectives include strengthening interoperability between partner nations, boosting operational readiness, improving combined and joint operational capabilities, and contributing to regional security and stability, the same source said.

«It is worth noting that more than 40,000 military personnel have taken part in the last five editions, reflecting the commitment of partner countries and the importance of this annual exercise, the largest of its kind in Africa».

The most recent edition was held from April 14 to May 23, 2025, across Tunisia, Ghana, and Morocco.
