Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch announced that the government has earmarked 368 million dirhams to implement the national strategy for the social and solidarity economy. The funding is intended to support cooperatives and social enterprises, while strengthening training and support programs across the sector.
Speaking on Monday before the House of Representatives, Akhannouch stressed that the social and solidarity economy remains a strategic pillar for job creation and for combating various forms of social exclusion. His remarks were delivered during the monthly oral questions session on general policy, which focused on the role of the sector in the productive fabric and its contribution to social and territorial development.
Highlighting the progress achieved in recent years, the head of government noted that the sector now includes around 63,545 cooperatives, with 22,914 created between 2021 and 2025. These cooperatives bring together more than 878,000 members, 34% of whom are women, in addition to 7,891 women-led cooperatives, he said.
In response to this momentum, Akhannouch pointed out that the government has finalized the national Mozara program, which helps finance development projects benefiting social and solidarity economy organizations across the country.
He explained that the program provides for the rehabilitation, construction, and equipping of 325 cooperatives, as well as the creation of 100 new-generation cooperatives, supplied with the necessary resources to ensure a strong and sustainable launch.
