DR

After extending a welcome to his Algerian counterpart Ahmed Attaf, Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares met with Morocco's Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita, this evening in Madrid. «The bilateral relations between Spain and Morocco rank among the strongest globally. Our friendship and cooperation have reached unprecedented levels», he declared on the platform X.

Albares further highlighted the significance of economic ties between the two countries. «Our trade relations are exceptional, with projections to hit 21 billion euros by 2025. Collaboration in areas such as migration and security plays a crucial role in safeguarding and stabilizing our citizens», he added.

In a manner similar to his talks on Saturday, February 7, with Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, the Spanish foreign minister steered clear of mentioning the ongoing negotiations on Western Sahara, brokered by the United States.

Nonetheless, Albares plans to meet with Staffan de Mistura, the personal envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Western Sahara.
