Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) President Fouzi Lekjaa said on Thursday in Salé that hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup is a strategic national undertaking aligned with King Mohammed VI's vision.

Speaking at a meeting of the FRMF steering committee at the federation's headquarters, Lekjaa called for a unified approach and collective commitment to ensure the success of the tournament, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal, according to a statement published by the FRMF.

He stressed that Morocco will be under FIFA's global spotlight alongside its two partners, making early preparation, sustained efforts, and effective coordination essential throughout the planning process. He added that the tournament will be overseen by the Morocco 2030 Foundation in partnership with the FRMF, with a dedicated coordination mechanism between the two bodies to strengthen cooperation and ensure the success of what he described as a major national project.

Lekjaa also urged the country's football leagues to modernize their governance and operational methods to meet the demands of the next phase, contribute to the successful organization of the World Cup, and help raise the profile of Moroccan football on both the continental and international stages.

He called on the leagues to play an active role in the preparations, with the aim of achieving the objectives set for Moroccan football both ahead of and beyond the 2030 World Cup.
