In an interview with a Spanish newspaper, Moroccan international Abdelkabir Abqar, currently playing for Getafe CF, expressed that his ultimate aspiration is to clinch a title with the Moroccan national team. The center-back, originally from Settat, shared that donning the national team jersey has been a cherished dream for both him and his family, realized after years of dedication and advancement through the youth ranks. He further stated that his current goal is to secure a continental championship with Morocco.

Addressing the topic of players born in Spain who opt to represent Morocco, Abqar highlighted that playing for the Atlas Lions is a pinnacle ambition for any player with Moroccan heritage. He emphasized that national team allegiance goes beyond the place of birth, asserting, «It doesn't matter where you were born, in Spain or elsewhere, because it runs in your blood.»

The 26-year-old also touched upon the challenges of fasting during Ramadan, explaining that he has been accustomed to it since childhood, despite its effects on his nutrition and sleep, particularly during afternoon matches. He emphasized his commitment to adapting in order to maintain peak physical condition.
