Moroccan Adouls start 19-day nationwide strike over new bill
DR

The National Adoul Authority, Islamic notary equivalent, has announced a nationwide strike from March 18 to April 5, 2026, in protest against the adoption of Bill No. 16.22, which regulates the profession, accusing authorities of passing it «without taking into account the observations and proposals of the authority». A protest is also planned in front of Parliament on Thursday, April 2, 2026.

In a statement, the authority’s executive office said the move marks an escalation in its protest program, citing what it described as the government’s failure to respond to its demands despite repeated correspondence.

The statement also recalled that Adouls had previously organized two protest actions: the first on February 18 and 19, and the second from March 2 to 10, 2026. They reiterated their rejection of the bill in its current form and called for its suspension, along with the opening of serious dialogue with the government.
