Moroccan national team captain Achraf Hakimi has called for the Court of Arbitration for Sport to uphold the Atlas Lions' victory, which was previously validated by the Appeals Committee of the Confederation of African Football.
«We are currently assessing the situation and are hopeful for a decision that benefits both football and Africa. I believe we deserve the win, as you can't just walk away from the field like that», he said during an interview with Movistar following Paris Saint-Germain's victory over Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
Reflecting on the incidents during the match, Hakimi remarked, «There are challenging and intense moments in the game. I'm not proud of the image we projected due to the towel incident.»
«Nevertheless, the national team performed admirably in the competition; we showed respect for both our opponents and the tournament», he added.
